Bale, who also owned the other parts of Phil. 3119. v. Honor McCusker, 'Books and MSS. in the possession of John Bale', Trans. Bibl. Soc. 16 (1935), no. 27.

Page-Turner Battlesden sale 19 Oct. 1824 lot 2716/2 to Phillipps. '2716/2' on fol. 1r.

Formerly London, The Robinson Trust (Phillipps 3119, fols. 176–205).

4 quires 18, 28, 36, 48; 49 long lines. It seems likely that this MS., which belonged to Bale, is the one which he saw at All Souls Coll. (Index, p. 452). No other copy of the shorter chronicle (Inc.: 'Multi nobilis ac pietatis studio') is known. The MS. now ends imperfect at 1177, but a note in the Phillipps cat. says that it went to 18 H. iiii, 'a quaternio being lost at the end'.

Bale's hand occurs on fol. 176r.
